Heartland Workforce Solutions Career Center

The Heartland Workforce Solutions Career Center, located at Ames Plaza (5752 Ames Ave) is the main office for Heartland Workforce Solutions' comprehensive services. Goodwill manages the Center, in addition to hosting our READY workshops and housing several programs there.

Goodwill staff and the other partners at the HWS Career Center help match you with meaningful job opportunities by offering services that address educational and employment goals. In other words, we help you develop the tools and skills you need in order to find a job and keep that job.

There are a number of community and government services available at the Center that can help you reach those goals:

Self-Service Resource Center

The following resources are available in our self-service resource area to provide you with the tools you will need to make your job search most successful.

• Online access to job opportunities.
• Online resume building tools
• Resume critiquing
• Job related copying and faxing
• Assistance with NEworks registration and job search
• Book, videos and printed information on job search related topics
• Information on partners and community resources

Free Workshops

The Career Center offers the following workshops:

• The Job Search Workshop addresses areas such as goal setting, transition and dealing with change, skills identification and interview tips.
• Goodwill's READY Workshops are designed to increase your employability skills such as conflict resolution, money management and self-presentation.
• NEworks for beginners is designed to assist the first time user of NEworks with registration, creating the best resume and the job search.

Veterans Services

Veteran Services are designed to help veterans in many ways:

• Career assessment and vocational guidance.
• Assistance with resume, cover letters and interviewing skills
• Supportive service referrals
• Information on careers, training and education
• Job search workshops
• Intensive services to assist with employment barriers
• Assistance with navigating computer programs
• Online application assistance
